Donald Fredric “Toby” Gienapp, 86, of Welch, Minnesota, formerly of Urbana, Iowa, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, in his home. Funeral Mass: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father David Ambrosy. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, where a rosary service will begin at 6 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; four daughters, Judy Morley of Fountain Green, Utah, Jackie (Jon) Strand of Welch, Minnesota, Jane (Joe) Buelna of Chandler, Arizona, and Julie Brown of Dover, Delaware; two sons, Rick Gienapp of Monticello, Iowa, and Marty (Diane) Gienapp of Anamosa, Iowa; sister, Rose (Mark) Doyle of Mesa, Arizona; and brother, Glen (Gloria) Gienapp of Anamosa, Iowa.
Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Burdette; and two great-grandsons, Kevin and Cody Honea.
Donald was born November 1, 1922, the son of Otto and Esther (Lehman) Gienapp, in Dundee, Iowa. A graduate from Dundee High School, he was united in marriage to Helen Everett on April 15, 1942, in Lancaster, Missouri. Donald farmed, owned a milk hauling business and later managed a mobile home park, retiring in 2003. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Urbana and a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Miesville, Minnesota.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Donald.
