Donald J. Ryczek, 72, of 4305 Regal Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 2, 2006, at his home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, by the Rev. Donald Klein. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Cedar Rapids, with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 298, Marion. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, with a vigil service starting at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughters, Donna and husband Lyndon Noggle and Julie Ryczek, both of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Jessica Souhrada; a sister, Shirley Snopek of Waukesha, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law, Jim and wife Marie Brady of Port Washington, Wisconsin, and Richard Brady and Ralph Brady, both of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom; a sister-in-law, Anabell Ryczek; and a brother-in-law, Sigmund Snopek; and a niece, Judy Hinze.
Don was born April 26, 1934, the son of Tony and Edith Behan Ryczek in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage there to Patricia Brady on July 9, 1960. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1956 - 1959. He was employed at Rockwell Collins for thirty-two years, retiring in 1991. Don was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 298, Marion.
Don enjoyed playing softball for Rockwell, playing the piano for parties and the Green Bay Packers.
