Donald J. Price, 69, of Coggon, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan with Pastor Roger McKinstry officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa, and one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Coggon Cemetery.
Don was born August 19, 1939 in rural Central City, Iowa, the son of Donald B. and Bessie E. (Hamilton) Price. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1957. He married JoAnn Kimm on June 14, 1959 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. The couple farmed in northern Linn County.
Don was active in the Farm Bureau Association and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. He enjoyed attending fireworks, his grandchildren’s activities, fishing, golfing with his friends and grandkids. Don was proud of his Scottish heritage. He was a caregiver who was always there for his family and friends in need.
Don is survived by his wife, JoAnn of 49 years; five children, Dona Jo (David) Wickman of Marion, Dennis (Monica) Price of Coggon, Kim (Dan) Ellis of Guttenburg, Kendra (Randy) Pejchl of Monticello and Kathy Falconer (fiance’ Keith Burkle) of Coggon; eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Dona (Charles) Paulsen-Miskimen of Kansas and Esther Bridge of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Chester (Phyllis) Price of Ryan and Norman (Linda) Price of Hopkinton; one sister-in-law, Jean (Gordon) Minehart of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bessie Price, one sister, Norma Miskimen; and one brother-in-law, Arlo Paulsen.
