Donald Paul Manternach

Donald P. Manternach, 68, of Manchester died early Sunday morning, February 1, 2004, at his home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 04, 2004 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with Rev. Jean Rabary presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and for an hour before services on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Donald was born on June 9, 1935 in Cascade, Iowa, the son of Aloysius "Al" and Agnes (Recker) Manternach. He attended school in the Buck Creek and Earlville areas. Donald was diagnosed with polio at age sixteen. On May 19, 1973, Donald was united in marriage to Walburga "Dottie? Nusshag at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Donald operated the family dairy farm south of Manchester.
Donald?s hobbies included fishing, boating, gambling and playing Euchre. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Gunnar.
Donald?s family includes his wife, Walburga "Dottie? Manternach of Manchester; four daughters, Martha (Andy) Gearhart of Buck Creek, Neola Zehr, Tonya Manternach (special friend, Jason Cullen) and Joann Manternach all of Manchester; two sons, Ed (Wendy) Zehr and Walt Zehr (special friend, Janet Cumberland) all of Manchester; special grandchildren, Gunnar, Melissa, Michael, April, Lee, Alison, Jesse, Chase, Matt, Mitch, Jamie, Steven, Jordan and Brendan; three brothers, Gerald (Donna) Manternach of Manchester, Bob (Helen) Manternach of Manchester, and Vernon (Carolyn) Manternach of Saukville, WI; three sisters; Gladys (Jack) Tinker of Greeley, Norma Jean (Elmer) Maiers of Manchester, and Janet (Jack) Kreeb of Fort Collins, CO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Manternach of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Al & Agnes Manternach; one brother, Louis Manternach; a sister-in-law, Doris Manternach; a nephew, Steven Maiers; and two grandsons, Dustin Eschen and Christopher Zehr.
