Donald V. Malik, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Father Mark Reasoner. Family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fairfax.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Cedar Rapids; children, Diane (Mark) Mulbrook of Marion, Linda (Tony) Treece of Lenexa, KS, and Mike Malik of Washington D.C.; and three grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene Henderson; and grandson, Benjamin Mulbrook.
Donald was born on May 4, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, son of Vincent and Tillie (Klouda) Malik. He served in the Army Reserves. On June 8, 1957, he married Margaret Lefebure at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. He worked as a Mechanical Designer with Universal Engineering for 40 years. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
