Donald D. Hoak, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, Iowa, after a lengthy illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana, where friends may call from noon until service time. Burial: Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana. Local arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lucile of Cedar Rapids; his children, Dale (Jean) Hoak of Kansas City, Missouri, Rita (Bill) Stewig of Marion, Iowa, and D. Robert (Anita) Hoak of Brownsville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Anne (Jeff) Justice, Stephen (Jennifer) Hoak, Dr. Elizabeth (Joe) Hillebrand, Nancy Stewig, Jennifer (Brent) Williams, Suzanne Hoak and Julie (Rick) Leonard; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob and Adam Hoak, Jacob and Anna Hillebrand, Rachael Li Williams and Isaac Leonard; a half sister, Kathryn Miller of Jackson, Michigan; and a stepbrother, Terry Wagner of Jackson, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald was born January 26, 1915, in LaGrange County, Indiana, to Charles and Veda (Hoff) Hoak. He was a graduate of Berrien Springs High School in Michigan. On May 30, 1935, he was united in marriage to Lucile Deepe. Donald was a purchasing agent at Henry Weis Manufacturing Company in Elkhart, Indiana, from 1946 - 1970. He was a member of St. Paul?s United Methodist Church in Elkhart.
