Donald A. Hill, 82, of Marion, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a 2 ½ year courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, by Rev, Beth Hilkerbaumer. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Inurnment: Coggon Cemetery at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of 57 years; son, Steven of Marion; sister, Janet (Richard) Woods and brother, John (Nancy) Hill of Toddville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was born November 3, 1932, in Mendota, IL, the son of Adrian and Mable (Freeman) Hill. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1950, and from the University of Iowa, with a business degree, in 1959. He served with the U.S. Airforce, attended safety training at Denver University in Denver, Colorado, and served one year at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland.

Don married Judy Raymond on August 24, 1958, at the Evangelical Church in Dysart, IA. He started his career in the Employment Office of Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids and later transferred to Wilson Food Plant in Logansport, IN, when the plant opened in 1968. Don served at Labor Relations and Personnel Manager until his retirement in 1994. In 2001, the family moved back to Marion, IA. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion.

Don was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football games; of which he was a lifelong supporter. He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling on the Wilson Foods league teams. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
