Donald Keith Haughenbury, 69, of 1600 29th Street, Marion, passed away peacefully Friday, February 20, 2009 at home of cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by Chaplain David Soldner of Amenity Hospice. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the funeral home.
Left to honor Don’s memory are his wife, Deanna (Metcalf) Haughenbury of Marion; his mother, Lucille (Jackson) Haughenbury; four daughters, Lori (Dennis) Howe of Austin, Texas, Sindi (Mark) Melchert of Marion, Kristi Haughenbury (Snider) of Des Moines, Staci (Kevin) Chada of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Adam and Malayne Melchert , Wayne Howe, Allison Wolff, Nicholas Snider, Darrin (Vera) Howe; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Dillon, and Lindsey Howe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Haughenbury.
Don was born June 5, 1939, in Blairstown. He attended Marion High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. Don served in the United States Army from 1957-1962. On November 19, 1960, he married Deanna C. Metcalf at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Don was a longtime farmer in Linn County.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Don’s memory.
