Donald Edward "Don" Zupke

Donald Edward Zupke, 73, of 1380 38th St. Place, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Friends may call from 2-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion where a vigil service begins at 6:00 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Don was born February 7, 1933 in Sumner, the son of Edward and Mabel (Timm) Zupke. He graduated from Waukon High School. Don married Barbara Welton in 1952 and the couple had three children: Cindy, Douglas and Donnie. On February 14, 1962, Don married Marian K. Miersen in Marion. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict. Don was a painter for over forty years and a lifetime member of Painters Local #447. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and Don loved to play cards and watch sporting events. He will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marian "Cookie? Zupke; his children, Cindy (Dan) Bryant of Ohio and Donnie Zupke of Glenwood; a daughter-in-law, Mary Score of Marion; four grandchildren, Brandi Score, Seth Score, Ryan Oder and Zachary Oder; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Delores Spiegler.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and his son, Douglas Score.
