Donald G. Oujiri, 67, of 3337 County Home Road, Marion, died surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 25, 2007, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, by the Revs. Daniel Krueger and Daniel Q. Johnson. Burial: St. John Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 35 years, Nancy; a son, Steven (Dee) Oujiri of Lakeville, Minnesota; two daughters, Deborah Wieditz of Mt. Vernon and Lori (Mike) Garwood of Aurora, Illinois; a stepson, Mike (Kathy) Henry of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Micah, Hannah Joy and Connor; a brother, Joseph M. Oujiri of Hiawatha; a sister-in-law, Mary (Luverne) Neste of Calmar; and a brother-in-law, Ron (Mardella) Hoopman of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Oujiri.
Don was born May 18, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, to Joseph and Mildred (Stribling) Oujiri. He graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School in 1957 and served with the U.S. Army in Germany. On February 22, 1972, he was united in marriage to Nancy Henry in Rock Island, Illinois. Don was an operator at Quaker Oats over thirty-nine years.
Don was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Toddville American Legion Post No. 674, and a former member of the Toddville Lions Club.
Don loved sports, especially motor racing. He was a people person, there for you no matter the occasion or the reason. He was a hard-working man, always looking for something to do or creating something to do. He loved his family and was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Graveside military honors will be provided by Toddville American Legion Post No. 674.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Don?s memory.
