Donald F. “Butch” Heathman, 59, of Center Point, Iowa, died Thursday, June 21, 2007, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, of colon cancer. Inurnment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa.
Survivors include his sisters, Elsie Boyles of Skranton, Arkansas and Joyce Trimble Wall of Center Point; brothers, John Heathman of Toddville, Glen Warren Heathman of Cedar Rapids, Robert Heathman of Cedar Rapids, Terry Lynn Heathman, Edward Heathman of Ryan and Marvin Hall of West Liberty; and special uncle and aunt, John and Darlene Pruitt of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ina Marie Heathman; sister, Ila Wall; and a brother who died at birth, Frederick Warren Heathman.
Donald was born July 16, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Leola (Pruitt) Heathman. He graduated from West Liberty High School and attended Kirkwood Community College studying Waste Water Management. He worked for the railroad and a cannery in Alaska and the Fire Service in Wyoming. He also worked in Arkansas and the Carolinas in the nature reserve, worked at Walmart and the last seven years he was a night stockman at Marion Hy Vee.
Donald liked the outdoors, camping and especially liked living in Alaska.
