Don Allen Sadilek, 64, a resident of Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, and traded in his old body for a new one, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Aaron Telecky. Friends may call from 4 -7 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, and 1 hour prior to the service, Friday at the funeral home. Private Burial: Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include a son, Kirk Allen Sadilek of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Sheri Anne (Allen) Krob of Walker; and three grandchildren, Jacob K. Sadilek, Peyton N. Sadilek, and Alexis N. Krob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Wilma Sadilek.

Don was born on September 19, 1944, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962, and attended Upper Iowa University and Cedar Rapids Business College. Don worked as a journeyman meat cutter for Hy-Vee Food Stores for several years. He then worked for American Tobacco Company (American Brands) for eight years as a salesman, and at the Pennysaver (Publications, Inc.) for over 14 years as an account executive.

Don enjoyed most all sports, and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fans.

Don was a faithful member of Maranantha Bible Church in Cedar Rapids. He loved his family, his grandchildren, his church, and his many friends. Don was proud and thankful to be a parent, a Cedar Rapidian, an Iowan, an American, and most importantly, a Child of God.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Maranantha Bible Church or a charity of the donor’s choice in Don’s memory.
