Dolores “Dee” Rose, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021. Private family services will be held. All invited guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Dee was born on February 24, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Clarke Klemper and Ruby (Spencer) Gerardy. She graduated high school in Dayton, Ohio, and went on to study at the University of Iowa, where she met her husband. Dee and John “Jack” Rose were united in marriage on March 1, 1957, in Iowa City. She was a nursing instructor at Coe College through St. Luke’s Hospital. After earning her Master’s degree she worked in Alzheimer’s Research through the University of Iowa until her retirement. Dee was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church; she was a woman of strong faith. She was a bookworm and enjoyed the book club at Meth-Wick. Dee enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and going out with friends. She was an adventurous spirit and loved to travel.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Rose of Walker, Iowa; daughter, Julie (Alex) Rose-Weston of Lawrence, Kansas; and grandchildren, Andrea Rose, Bradley Rose, and Vincent Weston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarke Klemper and Ruby Gerardy; and her husband, Jack in 2007.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or UnityPoint Hospice.
