Dixie Lee Martha (Valeu) Gray, 69, of Center Point, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, Iowa, from Parkinson’s disease. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Rick Gail. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, David; mother, Faye Doud of Rock Island, Illinois; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Brooks of Elburn, Illinois; son, Mason (Michelle) Gray of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Taylor Gray, Jonathan Gray and Talia Brooks; and two sisters, Sue Carnahan of Cedar Rapids and Jeanette (Eugene) Welch of Rock Island, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russel Valeu; one sister, Nadine Gilbert; and a brother-in-law, Gary Carnahan.
Dixie was born June 2, 1938, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Russel and Faye Valeu. She attended North Central Bible College. On August 12, 1967, she married David Gray in Kirksville, Missouri. She was an executive secretary at Rockwell Collins, Youth Pastor in Litchfield, Minnesota and taught Sunday School.
Dixie was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids, and enjoyed her family, knitting and crafts and her Sunday School kids. She was also a member of the Parkinson Support Group at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
