Dewey Michel Rudd

Dewey M. Rudd, 76, of Manchester, died Saturday evening, May 28, 2005, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Manchester, with Rev. Jean Rabary officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, with military rites.
Dewey was born on August 13, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Dewey and Hazel (Newton) Rudd. He attended school in Cedar Rapids. On September 1, 1949, Dewey was united in marriage to Barbara J. McNally at the Cedar Rapids Presbyterian Church. Dewey proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in El Toro, California where he worked in logistics. Upon his discharge in 1953, Dewey and Barb returned to Cedar Rapids. He worked for Baxter-Dvorak as parts manager. In 1968, Dewey transferred with the company to Manchester and worked as parts manager until it closed. He then worked for Henderson Manufacturing as foreman of the parts department. Dewey worked maintenance and served as an EMT at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester until his retirement in 1993.
Dewey was a friend of First Lutheran Church in Manchester. He served the community as an Emergency Medical Technician with Regional Medical Center. Dewey enjoyed the nature, fishing and gardening. He liked woodworking and bowling. Holidays, especially Christmas, were special times for Dewey and his family.
Dewey is survived by his son, Tim (Deb) Rudd of Manchester; three grandchildren, Haley, Zach and Tiffany Rudd; two sisters, Shirley Coon of Marion, Joyce (Burt) Lanier of South Carolina; a brother, Ken (Char) Marsh of Cedar Rapids; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Rudd and Lucille Marsh, both of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Rudd and Hazel & Fred Marsh; his wife, Barb Rudd in 2002; two sisters, Pat Davidson and Dorothy; a brother, Bob Rudd; and brother-in-law, Bob "Dutch? Coon.
