DeWayne L. Krumm, 91, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Center Point, by the Rev. David Hansen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Kay and their children, Leslie (Bob) Neagle, David (Cindy) Krumm, and Philip (Sandy) Krumm; seven grandchildren, Brad (Marsha) Neagle, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Michele (Gerald) Bruehlman, Argyle, Wisconsin, Melissa (Joe) Richard, Fridley, Minnesota, Brian Krumm, Des Moines, Angie (Chuck) Wilhelmi, Shellsburg, Kristy (Kent) Bruck, Omaha and Vicki Krumm, Omaha. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Samantha, Ashley, Brock, Erin, Olivia, Ruby, Nick, Amelia, Charley, Parker and Delaney; siblings, Dale Krumm, Joan (Jim) Biederman and Carole Krumm.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Kyle; and sister and brother-in-law, Dona (Cliff) Cunningham.
DeWayne was born December 11, 1919, to Julius and Flora (Stolte) Krumm in Boone, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mary Kay Angerer on April 8, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a radio teletype instructor and mechanic in the South Pacific. After returning to civilian life, he farmed for approximately 50 years, worked for Freese Well Drilling and was a salesman for Frontier Products.
He was an outstanding high school athlete, captain of his baseball, basketball and football teams and M & J League batting champion in 1942.
He enjoyed playing golf, was a big Iowa football and basketball fan and all sports in general. He was also an avid card player but most of all he enjoyed his family.
DeWayne was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Center Point for 63 years where he held numerous positions.
DeWayne was a gentle man with a quick wit and sense of humor.
