Derald "Bud? Leroy Taylor, 74, of Central City, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in his home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, by the Rev. Richard Marsceau. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday (April 22.)
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Rose; his children, Brenda Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Calvin Taylor of Central City, and Glenda (Chris) Holub of Delmar, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tracy Strope, Spencer Horak, Vanessa Vanis, Nathan Vanis and Kyle Vanis; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Ann Strope.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Bernita Stock, Jennie Rissler and Elaine Taylor; and a brother, Jerry Taylor.
He was born April 2, 1930, the son of William John and Jessie Josephine (Justin) Taylor in Sodtown in Spring Grove Township, Iowa. On October 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Primrose in Cedar Rapids. Bud had served with the U.S. Air National Guard. For over thirty years, Bud was a homebuilder in Linn County. He was a member of the North Linn Fish and Game Club and loved to hunt, fish and spend time outdoors. He was an avid mushroom hunter.
