Denver G. Page, 87, of Marion, died peacefully April 15, 2009, at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home in Central City on Friday, April 17, 2009, from 4:30p.m.-7:30 p.m. A private graveside funeral will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Central City.
Denver was born on December 30, 1921, on the original Page homestead in rural Central City, which is now in its fifth generation of family ownership. He was born the only child of Glen and Osie (Davis) Page. He graduated from Central City High School and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He was then drafted into the U.S. Air Force during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He married Josephine Hanzlik on July 2, 1949.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 60 years; his children, Lary of Central City, Christine (Dave) Keeran of Cedar Rapids, and Kurt (Brenda) Page of Marion; one grandson, Zachery Keeran and his fiancé, Jessica; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae McVay, Bonnie Herman, and Vicky Trent; brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Dale Hanzlik.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were brothers-in-law Edwin and Martin Hanzlik.
Denver had a 35-year career with Toledo Scale in Cedar Rapids. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, and never sat idle for a day in his life. He was proud of his Central City heritage and truly loved being a steward of the land through ownership of his family farm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Denver’s name.
