Dennis E. Hood, 60, of 923 33rd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died suddenly Sunday, September 14, 2008, in his home. Services: 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the funeral home.
Survivors include daughters, Heather Hood and fiancé Jason Davis, Kelly and Clayton Steil and Andrea Hood and Dustin Halvorson; grandchildren, Hannah, Natan, Maya, Ysabell, Annabell, Mirabell, Sarabell, Zach, Alexis and Kaylee; and life long friend, Jim Tomkins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steve Hood.
Dennis was born December 14, 1947, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Earl and Pauline (Boullion) Hood. On July 10, 1971, he married Pamela Hood. They later divorced. Dennis lived in Cedar Rapids most of his life and retired after 23 years from General Mills. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy.
Dennis enjoyed music, fishing and collecting many different things. He loved his family and friends. Dennis endured many struggles throughout his life and his family believes he’s finally at peace.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dennis’ memory.
