Dennis Marion Fitzgerald

Dennis Marion Fitzgerald, 63, of 2018 Balsam Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, May 17, 2009. Memorial Visitation: 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Donna Mae, who he was united in marriage to on August 20, 1966. Also surviving is his son, John Fitzgerald and wife Julie of Las Vegas, Nevada; his daughter, Amy Robinson and husband Dan of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren, Carley Mae Robinson, Colton John Fitzgerald and Logan John Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his brother, Mike and wife Terry Fitzgerald of Waukee, Iowa his mother, Racine Fitzgerald; and brother, Chuck Fitzgerald both of Cedar Rapids; a special aunt, Eunice Stanley; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Fitzgerald.
Dennis was born April 10, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Orville and Racine Fitzgerald. He was a 1964 graduate of Jefferson High School. He was most proud that both he and his son John were elected into the Jefferson High School Football Hall of Fame. They were the first father/son inductees. He attended the University of Wisconsin and University of Iowa before going through the Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Dennis was a more than 40 year member of IBEW Local #405.
In Dennis’ earlier days, he was an avid golfer, played racquet ball and learned the sport of karate. He was a skilled craftsman and did many home projects. He liked to do stained glass, built many remote control airplanes and boats and was an excellent cook.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
