Dennis “Denny” Lee Dollash, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died at home Monday, December 31, 2012. Services: 6:30 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. The family will greet friends from 4 until the service time at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Susan; children, Amy Dollash and special friend, Blake Mikesell of Cedar Rapids, Shay (Kenny) Berns of Winthrop and Casey (Stan) Bickel of Rowley; grandchildren, Charlee Bickel, DeLanee Bickel, Tucker Berns and Beau Berns; sisters, Michele (Gary) Smith and Tami (Randy) Stark; his nieces and nephews; special friend of the family, Eric Hrabak; and his beloved dog, Gracie.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Chris T. Liston.
Born March 20, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Denny was the son of Vernon and Elizabeth (Crane) Dollash. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 – 1972 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Norfolk, Virginia. On December 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Susan Berry in Cedar Rapids. Denny was retired from AEGON, Transamerica.
In his younger years he lived his life to the fullest by enjoying the outdoors, camping and bicycling. He rode RAGBRAI and enjoyed his trips to Lanesboro to ride on the trails. He loved his family and pets dearly and was a kind man to all he met. He was a recovering alcoholic and battled mental illness but never let it overshadow his love for his family.
