Denise Sue Wachal

Denise Sue Wachal, 66, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Reverend Jon Moss will officiate. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Denise was born on December 8, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Arnold Max and Patricia Faye (Long) Wachal. She was a 1974 graduate of Alburnett High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mt. Mercy College in 1978. Denise worked for Benefits Management Group, Inc. for 18 years. She was an avid walker and enjoyed watching crime shows on television. Denise will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Denise is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother, Dennis Wachal of Alburnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Pat Wachal; maternal grandfather, Bruce Long; maternal grandmother, Velma Walker; and paternal grandparents, Arthur “Art” and Edith Wachal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Denise’s memory may be made to the Alburnett Historical Society.
