Delvin R. Morris, 84, of Independence, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, in the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, following a lingering illness. Graveside Inurnment: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville, by the Rev. Rick Gail. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include four daughters, Lanora (Terry) Walker of Orum, Utah, Debra (Chris) Mayfield of Marion, Delores Reid of Independence and Rena (Harold) Saunders of Le Claire, Iowa; four sons, Irwin (Diane) Morris of Marion, Delvin (Lora) Morris of Center Point, Edwin (Judy) Thompson of Quasqueton and Floyd (Jenny) Howell of California; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Morris and Connie Varner both of Cedar Rapids; and two daughters-in-law, Linda Morris of Center Point and Lorie Morris of Visalia, California.
Delvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; sons, Leroy Morris, Leland Morris and Darrell Morris; infant daughter, Star; three brothers; and three sisters.
Delvin was born December 22, 1923, the son of John and Mary (Hemphill) Morris in Toddville, Iowa. Delvin served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked at Cargill and retired from ADM Cornsweetners.
Delvin was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Toddville and the Toddville American Legion Post #674.
