Delphine W. Mochal Buck, 78, a long time resident of Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon, died Thursday, September 2, 2004, at the care center from complications of Parkinson?s Disease. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., on Wednesday, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Buck of Cedar Rapids; their children, Greg and Patty of Eagan, Minnesota, Jeff and Lisa of Cave Creek, Arizona, Stephanie and Dennis Grissom of Marion, Annette and Steve Kray of Marion, Carla and Steve Stang of Great Lakes, Illinois, and Gary and Debbie of Palm Bay, Flordia; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister Ramona Opstelton of Golden, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Albia Mochal; and a sister, Vivian.
Delphine was born July 13, 1926, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Albia (Konicek) Mochal. She graduated from Clutier High School in 1944. Delphine played on the 1942 Women?s Basketball State Championship Team. She will be remembered for her devout membership in a Women?s Prayer Group and her unique wit. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hallmark Care Center and Dr. Kim Brandt for their genuine caring and support for Delphine while she resided at the center.
