Delores Mae (Mohr) DeShaw, 83, of Manchester, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Jack Flaherty. Immediately following the funeral mass, a meal will be served at St. Mary?s School cafeteria. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Friends will also be received one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul?s Catholic Cemetery, Worthington.
Delores was born February 15, 1923, in Castle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Hans and Christina (Martensen) Mohr. On September 4, 1941, Delores was united in marriage to Merle A. DeShaw at St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Worthington. She was a homemaker and farmed hand-in-hand with her husband for fifty-two years on their Iowa Century Farm.
Delores enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and participating in family activities. She was a long-time member of St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Worthington.
Delores is survived by seven children, James R. (Ruth) DeShaw of Huntsville, TX, Paul (Donna) DeShaw of Carroll, Bill DeShaw of Cedar Rapids, Merla "Jen? (Lee Hogan) Tegeler of Dyersville, Mary (Paul) Clifford of Mesquite, TX, Phil (Jane) DeShaw of Hopkinton and Janet DeShaw of Manchester; eleven grandchildren, David DeShaw, Christina E. DeShaw, Paul John DeShaw, Alison DeShaw, Jeff Tegeler, Joe Clifford, Christine Clifford-Scott, Brian Clifford, Brittany Clifford, Jonathan DeShaw, and Jessica Jordan; ten great-grandchildren, Victoria and Christina A. DeShaw, Max and Madeline Tegeler, Nicole and Jake Clifford, Paul, Will, Mason and Nina Scott; two sisters, Cecelia Smith and Betty DeShaw; a brother, Robert Mohr; and sisters-in-law, Vera Mohr, Delores Mohr, Helen Smith, Bernice Crowley and Phyllis Kuda.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Christina Mohr; her husband, Merle DeShaw on March 12, 1995; a son, John Merle DeShaw; two brothers, Harold and Donald Mohr.
An open house for family and friends will be held at James & Ruth DeShaw?s home, 1325 4th St. SW, in Dyersville, following internment.
