Delores “Dee” Anderson, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, moved to her heavenly home Friday, February 16, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the funeral home, with an additional visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Dee under “photos and videos or media,” starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

Dee is survived by her children, John R. Anderson and Cynthia S. (Michael) Mahoney of Cedar Rapids; her five grandchildren, Jessica Allie, Katie (Craig) Ford, Christine (Blake) Anderson, John W. (Amy Evans) Anderson, and Carrie (Christopher) Kaegbein; her 15 great-grandchildren, Jade Sparks, Ouka (Ebony) (Galileo) Gaia, Shayne (James Brislawn) Allie, Andrea Ford, Spencer Milling, Marissa and Maleah Miner, Aiden, Adrianna, Ava and Axton Anderson, Cooper Anderson and Zoey, Lucy and Cameron Kaegbein; her 5 great-great grandchildren, Sarin, Ariya, Hinley, River and Denver; sister Evelynn (Leland) Gray; sisters-in law, Margaret-Mary Darrah and Jan Anderson and brother-in law, Richard (Sharon) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dee was born December 29, 1936, in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of James Earl and Annie (Lindly) Van Benthuysen. She was united in marriage to John William Anderson Jr. on December 5, 1956, in Iowa City; the couple remained married for over 60 years. Dee and John were residents of Cedar Rapids for over 48 years, after relocating from Des Moines. She worked for U.S. West until her retirement. Dee enjoyed spending time with her family, especially all of her grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her friends at Stoney Point Meadows Assisted Living Community.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Van Benthuysen; husband, John W. Anderson Jr; sisters, Helen Sneddon and Lena Gray, Brothers, Robert P. and James O. Van Benthuysen and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
