Delmar Ray "Packy?Packingham, 76, Palo, died Friday, September 26, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John Howerton. There will be no visitation. Inurnment: Palo Cemetery, Palo, with military rites.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beverly; his children, Nora Venenga of Shellsburg, Delbert (Doris) Packingham of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Barb) Packingham, William (Beverly) Packingham, Shirley (Allen) Schmitz, Donald Packingham, Gregory Packingham, all of Palo, Dennis Packingham of Urbana, and Colette (Bill) Barkdoll of Garrison; 21 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doreen Labs of Center Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Delone Thomas.

Packy was born April 22, 1927, the son of Raymond and Cecelia (Stewart) Packingham, in Palo, Iowa. A graduate from Palo High School, he served with the United States Army Airforce during World War II. On September 4, 1948, Packy was united in marriage to Beverly Baldwin in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 23 years, retiring in 1982. Packy was a member of the American Legion Posts at Palo and Shellsburg. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending many winters in Arizona and Texas.
