Dell "Fran? Lesch, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Manchester United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:30 pm on Wednesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and for one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Littleton Cemetery in Littleton, Iowa.
Fran was born on April 16, 1915 in Blackberry Township, Illinois, the daughter of Delbert B. and Laura F. (Kessler) Morrill. She attended country school and graduated from Geneva High School in 1933. Fran worked at the corner grocery store. Fran was united in marriage to Walter Damon at Aurora, Illinois in 1934. The couple settled in the Elburn area where Fran worked as a housewife and kept books for her husband?s business. In the early 1940?s, Fran and Walter moved to the Hopkinton area to farm. Walter died in 1948. Fran worked for Sill Insurance in Hopkinton before moving to Manchester in 1946. She then worked at Federated Department Store, kept books for several businesses and played piano at the Windy Pines. In August of 1951, Fran married Hubert S. Malone. Fran worked at Collins Radio and as a department manager at Sears, both in Cedar Rapids. She transferred to Santa Barbara, California in 1964 where she lived until retiring in 1978. In 1983, Fran married Fred Lesch before returning to Manchester in 1984.
Fran was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church throughout her life. Fran enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card groups. She liked crafting at the Golden Age Activity Center. She was a Beta Delphian, and belonged to book and garden clubs.
Fran is survived by her three daughters, Kathryn (Newell) Sutton of Center Point, Alice Geisler of Manchester and Susan Gordon of San Juan Capistrano, CA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece, Florence (Gordon "Dutch?) Vogel of South Elgin, Illinois; and her great-nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert & Laura Morrill; her three husbands; a half-sister, Ella Sorenson; and a son-in-law, Paul Geisler.
