Debra L. (Norden) Mahoney, 48, of Marion, died peacefully in her home, Tuesday, February 2, 2005, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Thelma Hembroff. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the funeral home. The celebration of Deb?s life will continue Sunday, February 6, from 1-4 p.m., at Union Station, 1724 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include two sons, Royce A. Mahoney and Grant E. Mahoney, both of Marion; her mother, Vivian Norden of Cedar Rapids; five siblings, Linda K. Hertzler of Iowa City, Alan W. Norden and wife Jeanne of Marion, Marcia L. Norden-Johnson of St. Helens, Oregon, Barbara D. Selland of Tacoma, Washington and Cynthia S. Norden of Cedar Rapids; special friend, Tim Feldman of Hiawatha; seven nephews, Dylan Norden, Todd W. Norden, Trent A. Norden, Nick J. Bierman, John R. Towne Jr., Beau W. Towne and Sean Towne; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred and her niece, Erika Rose Hertzler.

Debra was born September 24, 1956, the daughter of Alfred W. and Vivian L. (Brown) Norden in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974. On May 14, 1983, she married Jerry Mahoney and later divorced. Debra worked for General Mills for over twenty-four years.

Debi had a radiant smile and beautiful, loving spirit that she shared with everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A special thank-you to Julie, Donna and Andrea from St. Luke?s Hospice and to many caring friends and neighbors for all of their expressions of kindness and support throughout Debi?s illness.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for her sons.
