Debra “Deb” Ann Shiley, 61, of Marion, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, in Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Antioch Christian Church, located at 433 Cross Road in Marion. Pastor Luke McCoy will be officiating. A private burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Deb was born on April 25, 1962, in Seymour, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry Eugene and Patricia Ann (Morrison) Caughron. She was a 1980 graduate of Fox Valley High School and went on to obtain her cosmetology degree from Iowa School of Beauty in Ottumwa, Iowa. On May 25, 1991, Deb was united in marriage to Shawn Lawrence Shiley, and to this union, two children were born, Kayla and Kyle. Her most favorite occupation was being a mom raising her two beautiful children and also being a “Nana” to her grandchildren. She was formerly employed as a cosmetologist, as well as a legal secretary for several law firms.

Deb was strong in her faith, and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. Nana loved watching her grandchildren and teaching them all about God. Deb was very active and influential with the local chapter of Bible Study Fellowship, including serving in leadership roles. Exercise was very important to her and she loved being energetic. Deb will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Deb is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, Shawn; daughter, Kayla Shiley of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Kyle (Jenna) Shiley of Marion; grandchildren, Halston and Hayes Shiley; three sisters, Vicki (Stan) Duncan of Milton, Iowa, Faith (Pat) Trachsel of Ottumwa, and Jeri (Jeff) Crile of Fairfield, Iowa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Joyce Shiley of Marion; brother-in-law, Tim (Lisa) Shiley of Royal, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
