Deb Schellhorn

Deb Schellhorn, 67, of Urbana, Iowa, passed away February, 5, 2019, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the funeral home.
Deb was born January 8, 1952, in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Inez Watson. She graduated from Postville High School in 1970. Deb married Don Schellhorn on March 31, 1973. Early in life, she worked at Disco Mart in Oelwein and then became a stay at home mother. She later decided to pursue her B.A. in teaching at the University of Northern Iowa. Deb then taught from 1993 – 1995 at West Central High School in Maynard, Iowa and 1995 – 1996 at the high school in Oelwein, Iowa. She enjoyed volunteering at the United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein as well as being a Cub Scout den leader and selling Avon. Deb loved to do anything crafty. She spent a lot of time crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting. Deb collected Barbies and thimbles.
She is survived by her husband, Don Schellhorn of Urbana; children, Mike (Tina) Schellhorn of Urbana and MaeLee (Doug) Nutter of Pekin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Drew and Ellie Schellhorn and Hudson and Payton Nutter; and her mother, Inez Watson of West Union.
Deb was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Bertha Ewing; and her aunts and uncles.
