Deanna L. Betzer, 64, of Central City, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, in her home following a sudden illness. Memorial Services: 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, 1221 Center Point Road N.E., Cedar Rapids, by Brother Courtney Mayne. Private family committal: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City. Friends may call from 3 - 9 p.m.Tuesday, March 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City.
Survivors include her mother, Frances Hutchison of Marion; seven sons, Ed and wife Sherry, Dennis and wife Gina, Jonn and wife Terri, Christopher and wife Carol, and Douglas, all of Central City, Craig and wife Sheila of Atkins, and Darrell and wife Jennifer of Marion; a brother, Malvern and wife Sharon of Omaha, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Pam Tallon.
Deanna was preceded in death by her father, Maynard, and her brother, Kenton Hutchison.
Deanna was born April 22, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Maynard and Frances Hutchison. She grew up in Cedar Rapids. Deanna married Arnold Betzer on March 7, 1957, and they were later divorced. Deanna worked at Collins for twelve years and Norand (Intermec) for nineteen years. She was one of Jehovah?s Witnesses.
Deanna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed races, reading, dancing, antiques and arts and crafts. She had a good sense of humor and a zest for life. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all.
