Dean W. Tosh, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011, in his beloved Arizona after a long illness. At Dean’s request there will be no services. A private family committal will be held at Czech National Cemetery.

Dean is survived by two daughters, Karen (John) Sevcik of Cedar Rapids and Mary Jane (Mark) McConaughy of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Lori (Michael) Hubsmith, Lisa Schafer, Brad (Denise) Sevcik, Mary Kate McConaughy, and Marianne McConaughy (fiancée Troy Geresma); and seven great-grandchildren, Macey, Abby and Jacob Sevcik and Maddie, Ellie, Luke and Sophie Schafer; and step-great-grandchildren, Peter and Kevin Hubsmith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jean.

Dean was born March 13, 1922, the son of William and Frances (Novak) Tosh in Cedar Rapids. He was a graduate of McKinley High School and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. On September 15, 1944, he married Jean Clark in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. She passed away on October 21, 1991. Dean joined his father as a bricklayer, working for Morehead Construction, Loomis Bros. & Blahnik Construction.

Dean was a kind and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
