David Wilfred Viktora

David W. Viktora, 80, a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Saturday, January 17, 2009, following long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the funeral home, where a vigil wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his sons, David (Mary) Viktora of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul (Shari) Viktora of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Barb) Viktora of Walford; twelve grandchildren, Dean, Dodi, Chad, Victor, Adam, Kyle, Laura, Dan, Stefani, Logan and Delaney; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Sistek of Cass Lake, Minnesota, Gladys Holst of Dexter, Minnesota and Louise Hahn of Spring Valley, Minnesota; and three brothers, Donald Viktora of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Dale Viktora of Hollandale, Minnesota and Melvin Viktora of Wichita, Kansas.
David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenny and Wesley; one sister, Rosella; and one great granddaughter, Adrienna.
Born in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota, on May 4, 1928, David was the son of James and Minnie (Belshan) Viktora. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. David married Anastacia Steffes. For 35 years David was employed by Eagles Grocery Store.
David was formerly a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and flowers. David loved people and life and his top priority was his children and grandchildren.
