David Lee Vickroy, 51, of Des Moines, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at the Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois. There will be no funeral service. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. ?" 12 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his mother, Gerry Hearn; a sister, Jean (George) Hampson of Marion; a brother, Alan (Teresa) Vickroy of Unionville, Iowa; 2 nieces, Sheryl & Stacy Winistorfer; and a great niece, Ella Kuchenbaker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Dean Vickroy.
David was born September 11, 1957, the son of Marvin Dean and Gerry (Dailey) Vickroy, in Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School and served in the U.S. Army.
A memorial fund has been established in David’s memory.
