David G. Salow, 82, of Manchester, Iowa formerly of Earlville, Iowa passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Good Neighbor Home, surrounded by his family. Family will greet friends from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, with a Scripture Service at 3 p.m., at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, with an additional visitation one hour prior to services. Reverend Dennis Quint will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
David was born February 28, 1939, the son of Raymond and Nellie (Hunt) Salow. He attended Earlville High School. David was united in marriage to Rose Mary Werner on April 21, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville. David worked at Cashway Lumber yard in Manchester, owned his own truck and hauled eggs from Manchester to Chicago, and 38 years as an over the road semi driver for Hutchinson Lumber until his retirement. David was a member lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family and going to the grandkids activities which kept him and Rosie busy most days.
Survivors include his eight children, Judy (Randy) Hillers of Manchester, Joan M. Salow of Earlville, Jeff (Joan E.) Salow of Manchester, June (Jesse) Wooten and Jim (Michelle) Salow of both of Earlville, Joel (Kim) Salow of Walker, Jay (Nicole) Salow of Manchester, Justin (Kelli) Salow of Robins; twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence “Hap” (Phyllis) Salow of Earlville, Richard (Pat) Salow of Manchester; and sisters-in-law, Betty Salow and Irene Salow both of Manchester.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Nellie Salow; wife Rosie of 63 years; an infant son, John; sister, Marian (Robert) Young; brothers, Bill (Audrey) Salow, Walt (Amber) Salow, Don Salow, Ray Salow Jr., Clyde Salow, Harold (Mona) Salow, Loren (Irene) Salow, and Gary Salow.
