David “Porky” Portzline, 63, of Swisher, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
David was born May 30, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Alan and Lavonne (Bachman) Portzline. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School and was employed at Mutual Wheel. David married Tammy Zerbee on March 3, 2000, in Solon, Iowa. He loved the outdoors, including fishing, farming and hunting. David was a cowboy at heart and loved horses. He enjoyed telling stories and could talk to anyone. David was a helper, handyman and a jack of all trades.
David is survived by his wife, Tammy Portzline of Swisher; son, Shane Portzline of Marion; daughter, Mandi Portzline of Swisher; mother, Lavonne Portzline of Anamosa; siblings, Gerald (Joy) Portzline of Leesburg, Florida, Becki (Joel) Cunningham of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Robert (Roxanne) Portzline of Coggon; mother-in-law, Lucille Zerbee of Cedar Rapids; Sisters-in-law, Debbie (John) Westfall of Arizona, Terrie (Dave) Chalupsky of Swisher, and Nancy (Mike) Smith of Swisher; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Portzline; father-in-law, Vern Zerbee; and brother-in-law, Danny Lybarger.
