David H. Olmstead, 71, of Babson Park, Florida, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the Lake Wales Medical Center in Lake Wales, Florida. Memorial Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Services were also held October 9, 2006, in Babson Park, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Olmstead of Babson Park, Florida; daughters, Cindy and Rick Ritchison of Babson Park, Florida, Valerie Reed of Cedar Rapids; Kathy and Scott Crosby of Robins and Linda Vickery of Memphis, Tennessee; son, David Allen and Dawn Olmstead of Hiawatha; brother, Lloyd Olmstead of Garnavillo; sisters, Virginia Long of Marion, Janet Merta of Marion and Sandra Svoboda of Marion; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
David was born April 3, 1935, in Webster City. He has been a winter resident for seven years and moved to Babson Park, Florida two years ago. He is a retired Bookkeeper/Office Manager for The Pet Stop in Marion. He also worked for Farmstead Foods for nineteen years in Cedar Rapids. He was of the Protestant faith, an avid fisherman, enjoyed his family time and playing cards. He was a loving husband, an entertaining brother, and a father of strong values.
