David Lloyd McVay, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery in Center Point, Iowa. A celebration of life luncheon will follow burial at Kingston’s Steakhouse, 568 Boyson Road NE Ste. 100, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.
David was born September 24, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of J.D. and Berniece (Sterns) McVay. He graduated from Kennedy High School. David was united in marriage to Rebecca Bosier on April 8, 1978, in Cedar Rapids. He was a hard worker all his life, retiring from Millwright Local 2158 in Cedar Rapids and was also the owner of Palo Auto Salvage. David was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, and being with friends. David loved working on cars, riding and racing his Harley and stock cars, and mud running in his younger years. He will be missed by his family and lifelong friends.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca McVay of Cedar Rapids; children, Deidra McVay (Casey), Sylvia McVay, and Jacob McVay (Jess); grandchildren, Shyanne (Zach) Wiegel, Jaiden McVay, Kain McVay, Raiven McVay, Kaileigh McVay, Gage Vaverka, Karter McVay, Adalyn McVay, and Brinley McVay; great-grandchildren, Frederick and Sutton Wiegel; sisters, Jeanette Pearson, Robin Hootman, Nancy Perry, Sherry McVay, Peggy Stangland, and Judy Lovelett; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Berniece McVay; and siblings, Barb Tompkins and Dennis McVay.
