David Garth Johnson

David Garth Johnson, 82, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. No services will be held at this time. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
David was born on June 24, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Garth and Pauline Johnson. He was a graduate of Prescott High School and went on to attend Northern Arizona University. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1960 - 1966, during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal. On December 28, 1988, David was united in marriage to Paulette Dumbrigue in Chandler, Arizona. He worked for the city of Mesa, Arizona, until his retirement in 2001. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He also enjoyed reading, watching the birds, going hiking, and was an excellent cook. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Paulette Johnson; son, Daniel (Melanie) Johnson of Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Deanna (Robb) Johnson Mullican of Phoenix, Arizona; stepchildren, Eileen (Jeff) Hardman of Marion, Richard (Mandy) Gatrelle of Marion, and Alexis (Robert) Benion of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garth and Pauline Johnson; sister, Delores “Dee Dee” Fields; and brother, Stephen Johnson.
