David Franklin Grizzell
January 10, 1929 — August 29, 2008
David F. Grizzell, 79, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Winslow House Care Center in Marion. Services are tentatively set for Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, Illinois. David will be laid to rest in Mulkeytown Cemetery, Mulkeytown, Illinois, where he will be reunited with his parents and siblings. Local arrangements are being provided by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Katherine) Grizzell of Marion; his sister, Mildred Jones of Christopher, Illinois; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
David was born January 10, 1929, the son of Ben and Katie (Jones) Grizzell, in Mulkeytown, Illinois, where he was the youngest of eight children. David enjoyed 20 years as a radio tech in the Air Force and retired after those 20 years of service. He had the honor of serving in Japan, Germany, France, Thailand, and Goose Bay Labrador during his time and he ended his service at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan. David was very proud of his time serving our country; that and his love of the St. Louis Cardinals, were his two favorite subjects. After his retirement, David became very active in the First Christian Church in Christopher, Illinois, and took a position as their caretaker until his retirement 15 years ago.
