David Lee Glade, 66, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. The family will host a Celebration of David’s life on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Marion American Legion Post 298, 625 31st St., Marion, Iowa 52302. Inurnment with full Military Honors will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assisted the family.
David was born April 16, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Beverly (Romans) and Oran D. Glade, Sr. He attended North Linn High School. David was united in marriage to Melinda Jane Williamson on November 3, 1979, in Coggon, Iowa. He served 22 years in the Army National Guard, including during Operation Iraqi Freedom. David worked for the Can Shed LLC and Whirpool until his retirement in 2023.
Survivors include his life partner, Melinda Glade of Hiawatha; father, Oran D. Glade, Sr.; children, Adam (RaeEllen) Caldbeck of Mississippi, Jeanne McDonald of Cedar Rapids, Erin Glade of Hiawatha, and Cassandra (Jesse) Vazquez of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Austin (Cadie) Owen, Massiah Speller, Lucas Trimble, Pyper Vazquez, Bexlee Vazquez, Jeter Lee Vazquez, all of Cedar Rapids, Adam Caldbeck, Jr., Alexis Caldbeck, Aria Caldbeck, and James Rae-Caldbeck, all of Mississippi; great-granddaughter, Harper Owen; brothers, Jake, Donald, and Dean Glade; sister, Delray (Jeff) Nitzel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; brothers, Dennis and Todd Glade; grandson, Christopher Caldbeck; and sister-in-law, Gerita Glade.
