David Charles Krejci, 69, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, died Monday, October 20, 2008, of Alzheimer’s Disease of 13 years duration. He had lived at the care center the past eight years. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2008, at the funeral home and one hour before services on Saturday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; a son; a daughter, Heidi and husband Brian Peck; his father, Charles Krejci; a sister, Ann Downs; a daughter-in-law; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha; and an infant sister.
Dave was born September 3, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Charles and Martha (Koutny) Krejci. On November 6, 1966, he married Diane Sandvick in McCallsburg, Iowa. Dave graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958. He was active in band and Boy Scouts, attaining Order of the Arrow and rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 26. Dave worked at Iowa Manufacturing and Link-Belt Speeder/FMC for 22 years. A lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he liked nature, traveling, stamp collecting and photography. He was proud of his Czech heritage.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s Association, Jefferson Band of Blue or Milestones Adult Day Care.
