Darrell E. Wiley Sr., 62, of 918 15th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Coggon, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, in his home surrounded by his family. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 29) at the funeral home, where a Parish Vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Wiley Jr. of Farley and Curtis Wiley of Bettendorf, and their mother, Arlene Wiley of Marion; six grandchildren, Krysta McGill of Cedar Rapids, Amber, Brennan and Cameron Wiley of Farley, and Emily Ann and Benjamin Wiley of Bettendorf; two brothers, Oliver and Dick Wiley, both of California; three sisters, (his twin) Darlene McGlaughlin of Independence, Marybelle Seeman of Cedar Rapids and Dorothy Carrothers of Texas; and his friend and companion, Barb Lacy of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leroy, Cliff and Bill; and three sisters, Doris, Virginia and Margaret.

Darrell was born the son of William and Dorothy (McCreedy) Wiley on July 1, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1960 and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1961. In July 1963, he married Arlene Kula at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, Iowa, and they remained married until April 1984. For thirty-eight years, Darrell was a machinist and shipping receiving clerk at Universal Engineering, retiring in July 2003. He was a member of Machinists Union Local #831 and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.

Darrell enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors and playing cards. He loved collecting antiques and attending lots of flea markets and garage sales. Spending time with his grandchildren was most special to him and seeing a smile on their faces would make his day.

Darrrell was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his many friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Darrell?s memory.
