Darrell "Snuffy" Clarence Smith

Darrell C. “Snuffy” Smith, 81, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018. Visitation: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment at a later date: Goshen Cemetery, Millville, Iowa.
Darrell was born August 24, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of George and Grace (Simmons) Smith. After graduation from East Waterloo High School, he served honorably in the United States Navy. Darrell worked in the Ball Glass factory in North Carolina for 25 years and then for the Eblen Gas Station. Darrell was married to Sandra Gordon and from that union three children were born, David, Darren and Dawn. They later divorced. On January 26, 1991, Darrell married Sharon Sauerbry in Garnavillo, Iowa. He enjoyed and collected HO-scale model trains and circus cars.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Sharon Smith of Colesburg; children, David Smith, Darren (Michelle) Smith, Dawn Dollinger, Anthony (Mindyann) Moll, and Theresa Weipert; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters- in-law, Glen (Kathie) Sauerbry, and Dollie Prickett; many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Nitro.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Betty Barman and B. Dale Smith.
