Darrell D. Morris, 61, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mark LoFquist. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Boyles) Morris; a daughter, Crystal Morris of Troy Mills; his sons, Matthew (Robyn) Morris of Central City, Brian (Tracy) Morris of Cedar Rapids, Joseph Morris and fiancee Heather of Palo, Jeremiah Morris of Cedar Rapids, and Johnjohn (Dawn) Morris of Quasqueton; two stepsons, Ronnie (Marcie) Brewer of Arizona and Ricky (Kimberly) Brewer of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kanan, Kolby, Dakota, September, Rhyley, Jeffrey, Skylar, Sullivan, Brody Morris, Paul White, Jacob and Wyatt Brewer, Bailey, Taylor and Lyndsee Brewer; his Godchild, Jason Morris; his father, Delvin Morris of Independence; his sisters, Delores Reid of Independence, Deborah (Chris) Mayfield of Marion, Lenora (Terry) Walker of Utah, Sonya (Lenny) Cornell of Cedar Rapids and Rena (Harold) Saunders of Leclair; his brothers, Wayne (Laura) Morris of Center Point, Erwin (Diane) Morris of Marion, Clifford (Wendy) Mather and Jack (Linda) Mather, both of Cedar Rapids, and Edwin (Judy) Thompson of Quasqueton; a half brother, Floyd (Gerry) Howell; a sister-in-law, Lori of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlyne Morris; sister, Star; brothers, Leland, Leroy and Timothy; a son, Mark; brother-in-law, Lloyd Reid; a grandson, Nathaniel Brewer; and special grandparents.
Darrell was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Arlyne Varner and Clifford Mather. He was later adopted by Delvin Morris. Darrell served with the United States Army in Germany. For 33 years, he worked for Quaker Oats, where he had many friends and volunteered much of his time to Quaker projects. Darrell would also go to different schools where he would read and help students with their activities. He was a member of the Toddville Free Methodist Church. A member of the Center Point Garden Club which he thoroughly enjoyed, his passion was working with the flowers and plants. He also enjoyed all wildlife, especially his birds in his yard, his fish and turtles.
A loving husband with a big heart, his children and grandchildren were his greatest gifts in life.
Darrell will be sorely missed by one and all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Darrell.
