Darrel D. Wilson, 82, of Pittsfield, Illinois, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, in Liberty Village, Pittsfield, following a short illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three brothers, Duane (Joyce) Wilson of Griggsville, Illinois, Vernon (Marna) Wilson of Banning, California, and Bill Wilson of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; and a brother, Theodore.
Darrel was born September 23, 1924, the son of Raymond and Anita Schroder Wilson, in Washington County, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Darrel married Arlene Williams, who died September 4, 2006. He worked at LinkBelt in Cedar Rapids for many years. Darrel enjoyed the music and entertainment at the care center. He was a member of the Genealogy Society.
