Darlene B. “Smitty” Weaver, 80, formerly of Hiawatha, was called to be with her Lord, Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Colonial Manor Care Center, Amana, Iowa, following complications of Alzheimers. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Dennis) Smith of Monroe City, Missouri and Evelyn (Eugene) Frame of Amana, Iowa; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Beverly (Hank) Burt of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are many Weaver relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Tilman R. Smith and V. Crandall Weaver; three brothers, Milford, Merlin and Orville Smith; a sister, Shirley Jones; and a granddaughter, Donna Smith.
Darlene was born April 12, 1928, the daughter of Ira and Eleanor (Jones) Smith, in Iowa City, Iowa. For over 30 years, she worked at Rockwell Collins where she started in assembly and retired as an inspector.
