Darlene D. Jennings, 76, of Springville, was called to stand before the Lord Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Hiawatha. Per Darlene’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Left to honor her memory are her husband of 54 years, Martin; children, Selena (Russ) Coyle of Anamosa, Kim Snitker of Springville, and Keaven Jennings of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Chad (Kristin) Kryger of Cedar Rapids, James (Sarah) Kryger of Anamosa, and Drew and Haley Snitker of Springville; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Isaac Kryger. Also surviving are her cousins, lots of nieces and nephews, and many friends whom she considered family.

Darlene was born April 12, 1938, in Waukon, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Stock) Snitker. She graduated from Postville High School and married Martin Jennings on May 28, 1960, at the Zalmona Presbyterian Church in Waukon. She raised her family in Springville, but her home was forever in Waukon. Darlene’s kids were her life and she helped raise many of the neighborhood kids as well. She worked at Rockwell Collins, Jack & Jill, Casey’s, drove school busses, and she volunteered many hours helping to support her children’s activities. Darlene loved playing Skip-Bo, camping by the trout stream, and made the best beer battered trout. Her family has no doubt that she is playing Skip-Bo by the trout stream now. (Even though her ability to win at Skip-Bo will always be questioned by her grandchildren!)

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Darlene’s memory.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at Hospice of Mercy for their extraordinary care with Darlene.
