Darlene Marie Hepker, 78, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on October 19, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills, Iowa.
Darlene was born February 20, 1938 in Benton County, Iowa, to Paul and Norma (Albones) Rick. She graduated from Urbana High School. Darlene married Merwyn Hepker on May 10, 1956 in Urbana, Iowa. She worked at Rockwell for 34 years as a Utility Foreman before retiring in 1994.
Darlene loved to camp, crochet, dance, sing karaoke, and going on trail rides. She loved animals and especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Darla Arbuckle (Rick Nelson) of Cedar Rapids; sons, Myran “Mike” Hepker of Center Point, Myland (Deb) Hepker of Rowley, Iowa; sister, Marilyn Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Keith (Ann) Rick of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Gary Rick of Marion, Iowa; five grandchildren, Coti (Ty) Brown, Michael Hepker, Jaclyn Hepker, Ashley Hepker, Garrett Hepker; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Merwyn.
